The Bandit

I climbed up the wall
of a big rabbit hole
I got to the top
and she had taken her leave
Looked to the left
Looked to the right
Stopped singing those songs
I'll sing new songs tonight
I'm on top of the world
And the world is just mine
My hair is a mess
but I like it just fine
Not a princess or a queen
I'm good just being me
I'm a bandit with words

held under lock and key

The keys in the sand and
There’s sand in my toes
Coz the sea took me in
And it took off all of my clothes
Had to learn how to swim
Or else sink to the floor
Wash up in a while
On some foreign shore
Which might be alright
If I were alive
The dead can’t drink wine
Or stay up fucking all night
So I learned how to swim
And climbed up a cliff
With salt in my hair
Power in my fists
Raise my fists toward the skies
The thunder abides
The lightning it strikes
I’m on fire tonight

And it wasn’t until
On that mountain of mine
With a new set of eyes
I saw for the first time
The beauty and grace
Of a once barren place
Once dark and contrived
Now lit from the inside
With radiance abound
And the miracle of sound
Of silence of mind
And love all around
With one hand upon my ribs
One stretched outward with care
I Whispered into the breeze
‘Love me if you dare’
On top of that hill
Standing perfectly still
Solitary and brave
I wished her well on her way
Out with the old
And in with the new
All of this time
I’d been longing for you

I’m on top of the world
And the world is just mine
My hair is a mess
And I like it just fine
Not a princess or a queen
I’m good just being me
I’m a bandit with words

Unashamedly Free.
